Teaching Children English, or anything for that matter ( I used to teach children music too!) takes a lot of energy. Sometimes I need to do something to raise my energy level before class, so that I can be ready for the kids! Here are my top 5 ideas for “pepping up” before class:

1. Listen to your favorite song and sing and dance along. Need a favorite song, check these out.

2. Run in place and do some jumping jacks for a minute or so.

3. Review your lesson plan, and look for a place to make things more fun: For example, when you use flashcards to teach numbers, think about inserting a turtle flashcard, or something else that takes the kids by suprise!

4. Drink some cold water, or if you like some coffee or tea!

5. Just wait for the kids to arrive, and let their infectious energy get you going! I have had many a day where I am feeling low on energy until I see the students smiling faces, and it picks me right up.

What are your top ideas for getting ready for a lesson? If you like, feel free to comment on this blog and help out your fellow teachers.
