I think reviewing is really important with young students. This month in my classes I have been taking the time each week to review a theme that we covered in the last few months. I am often surprised at how well the students remember the material. The review process really helps them remember for even longer. Plus, they enjoy it. It’s fun for the kids to practice things they know, and it gives them confidence.

How to Review

There are many different ways you can review. You can simply review with flash cards, you can play a game, do a listening exercise, sing a song, play bingo, or a do a crossword puzzle. As long as the exercise uses the vocabulary you want to review, you’re doing a great job!

My favorite sites for review material on the web

There are so many resources online to help you find material to use for a review class. Here is a list of what I use, some of which are my sites:

1. MES English– great resources for flashcards games, worksheets and more, all free materials

2. Tools For Educators– make your own worksheets, or bingo game cards with images, very cool.

3. 123 Listening– free listening exercise downloadable audio and worksheets. great for reviewing.

4. Dream English– free songs and chants with many different themes for practicing and reviewing vocabulary.

So give your students a boost of confidence, and help them retain what they have learned by doing some reviewing. If you have any favorite sites to add to this list, please let me know. Good luck!
