At some point you have probably heard the song with the lyrics, “this is the way I wash my face, wash my face, wash my face….” which is great for teaching kids basic daily activities. I wanted to make a bit more modern version, so I recorded, “Wake Up!” I have recently been using this song with my students from 2 to 6 years old, and it is working well.

How I Teach the song

I have been using the daily activity flash cards at MES English (see above) to teach the basic vocabulary of the song. Also, each week in my classes we are making the items that you use for the activities. For example, we are making a toothbrush, a bar of soap, a comb, etc. We are just doing little paper cut outs and having the kids color them, very simple. Then in the song when they hear, ” I brush my teeth” they have to pick up their toothbrush and pretend they are brushing their teeth while singing. I find that this kind of hands on learning is really great for the kids.

  1. hey, this is a great song!
    I love it
the only thing I would change is the chorus, it will be too hard for some of my young kids (I teach)
but I will def give it a go!
    Thanks a lot
